A printer connected directly to a network, rather than to a computer.

By identifying the printer type, you can help reduce the frustration that can result by using the wrong printer (for example, by printing a shopping list on more-costly photo paper).

To make it easier to locate a network printer, you can also give it a friendly name (for example, Home Printer).

By assigning a special printer icon to a network printer, others can locate and use the right printer.

Example If you have a printer that you use for printing photos and that you keep loaded with photo paper, you can assign it the following icon and name:
